Change for the Better
Constructive Sentencing
Judgements and penalties designed to reduce repeat offenses rather than simply punishing offenders.
Efficient Processing
An efficient court process will let our hard-working citizens take less time off to handle their court issues, and allow our police officers to get back to the field.
Fairness and Honesty
Transparent and balanced judgements will strengthen trust in our city and brighten our community.
Priorities for the Future

Support our Police
Our police are stretched as thin as ever. This has led to hig her wait times for accidents, ___, and ___.
As Municipal Judge, I will be able to cut down on their time on menial tasks, and get them back to where they are the most benefit – keeping our communities safe.

Affirm Animal Ownership Responsibility
For many, the only responsibility an owner is aware of for their fur friends is food, shelter, and love. Many pet owners will come to court having fines for responsibilities they were unaware of. I will keep with my approach of unburdened fines to make sure those who are first time offenders are not severely impacted by fines.

Community Appearance
There is a connection to crime and a person’s environment. Being born and raised in St. Joseph, I know first hand the differences of community environments within our city.
I intended to use my time as Municipal Judge to keep our community clean.

Reduce Homelessness
Homelessness is a growing concern for many in our community – including myself. Not only are these concerns related to safety, crime, and community appearance, but there is an increased concern for our homeless neighbors themselves.
I will continue with my values to help people, which means that I will make sure each homeless case is brought under full consideration of the best potential outcome to all.

Establish Unburdened Fines
Too often, a one-time fine can become a life altering event for our citizens. The financial impacts to some of our citizens from minor offenses can lead to years of recoup or loss, changing the trajectory of their life.
I will make sure to take all factors into account for fines for each first time offender. Including history of violations, current challenges, and the violator’s actions in our community.

Address Repeat Offenders
Crime can be attributed to multiple choices by those who break the law. This can be current living situations, childhood trauma, chosen responsibility, and more. I want to do my part to help families and persons to end their cycle of offenses.
This is why I will create and implement new, equitable sentencing rules and mechanisms that support and benefit people. I will make sure that justice is delivered for all, with impartiality and with consideration of the offenders’ history.
